About Us
Two teachers. One mission. Financial clarity for educators.
Teachers Stacking 10’s was created to help educators build wealth, eliminate financial stress, and move toward financial independence, without leaving the profession they love.
Like many teachers, we did the “right” things. We contributed to retirement accounts. We paid our bills. We worked hard. But we still felt financial pressure. There was little savings outside retirement. Unexpected expenses went on credit cards. Debt lingered. We were living paycheck to paycheck while assuming the pension would take care of everything.
At age 42, The Professor realized something needed to change. After reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, he began diving deeply into personal finance. Books, forums, investing strategies, asset building, budgeting systems. What started as concern became obsession. More importantly, it became transformation.
Conversations with The T.A., a younger colleague and assistant coach, turned into a shared mission. If two teachers could learn this information and change their trajectory, others could too. This blog is the result.
We write about:
• Teacher retirement systems and pensions
• 403(b) and 401(k) strategies
• Budgeting and debt elimination
• Investing fundamentals
• Building assets outside your pension
• Financial independence on a teacher salary
Our goal is simple. Help teachers make informed financial decisions earlier in their careers so they avoid the mistakes we made.
The Professor
The Professor graduated in 1998 with a degree in education and coaching and zero formal financial education. Over 20+ years in the classroom teaching middle school literacy and Minnesota history, he has also coached football, track, and basketball.
For much of his career, financial decisions were reactive rather than strategic. Through study and experience, that changed. What began as personal frustration evolved into a commitment to helping educators better understand money, investing, and long term wealth building.
He has been married since 2001 and has two teenage daughters approaching college age, which adds urgency to every financial decision.
The T.A.
The T.A. represents the early career teacher perspective. At 26, he recognized the opportunity to build strong financial habits before costly mistakes compound. With a background in science education and strong technical skills, he helped turn the idea of this blog into reality.
Together, we bring two career stages, two perspectives, and one shared belief. Teachers deserve financial confidence, not confusion.
